Hello again,

I was looking up the geographical locations of my Séguin ancestors from Picardie, close to the Brussels border and Guillermo's geographical location of Gévaudan on the France Map only to find that these two locations are diametrically opposed to one another, Picardie being located in the Norther part of France while Gévaudan (now Lozère) is to the South of France, a hop and a skip away from the Mediterranean Sea and also close to the Spain border. That would partly explain why our two Séguin branches did not have a chance to meet and get to know one another on a personal basis. It would also be a plausible explaination as to why Guillermo chose to go to New Spain while the Séguins from Picardie chose to head to New France. We should also take into consideration the fact that the name Séguin is as familiar a name as is Smith. Needless to say, it makes it difficult to keep track of everyone. I will of course continue my search for the missing piece of the puzzle, because the bottom line is, Guillermo is a Seguin and consequently a part of my ancestors and family, so I'm going to keep looking for any info I can find about my (and our) dearly departed and will keep you all posted.

Best Regards to all my Séguin cousins around the world.

Danielle (mom was a Séguin)

Greetings to all Séguin Family Members:

I have scoured the Internet looking for information about Guillermo's ancestors, but have not been successful so far. I cannot locate the missing paperwork from Gévaudan, France to link him to the North American branch, but it's not from lack of trying. If anyone knows of his father's or mother's name or that of his late wife, or any other information, it would be very helpful. Seems the missing information may have been lost during the French Revolution. It doesn't mean that he is not a part of the family, it only means that we have not found the paperwork that connects him to the Séguins that we do know about at this point in time. But I'll keep digging. I promise. Again, if anyone knows the name of his mother or father or of his late wife, I would greatly appreciate getting the information so I can dig further. I'm as curious as you are to find this out.

Best Regards to the whole family,

Danielle (mom's name is Séguin)

Just to say this is the best site I have found on Juan Seguin.. Also I ran into some people at the Seguin family reunion on Sat July31..Someone a made comment there are two diff families in Texas and that your group is not apart of their family. That is so sad on them. Life is to short.Juan Seguin would turn over if he knew how those people at that reunion acted about other family members . Juan Seguin was a HERO. But they will have to face GOD in the end.. I will pray for that famliy

My maiden name is Dorothy Arenas Manriquez, the reason I am interested in Seguin, TX is because of Areans my mother and all her brothers and sisters were born in a farm house in Seguin, so I did visit once when I was very young.
Now trying to catch up on all I can on my ancestors, good job on all the great work done on this educational web-site. my grand-father was from Spain and was in the war also. That is information I am trying to find I only have a picture of him in his uniform will continue searching . Thanks again

Angel,
It was an honor talking with you at Mission San Jose, Saturday May 22. Love your website, so much to read here and it displays the hard work and dedication of not only preserving Texas History, but also giving honor to those who fought for Texas Independence, including those of different descent. All the men who fought for Texas Independence deserve honor for their sacrifices regardless of race and the preservation of Texas History needs preservation even before the Spanish entered the scene. Anything I can contribute to help your cause would be an honor. My email address: [email protected]

Saludos

I have enjoyed perusing this website at the invitation of my friend Angel Garcia. Texas history is fascinating, but seeing it through the eyes of descendants of a true Texas hero really brings it alive. Also, the website is outrageous and fun. Greetings and deepest respects to Angel and all the descendants of Capt. Seguin.

Does anyone know how I can get copy of the family tree. I am very curious to see if what my mother is saying is true. She states that we are direct decendants of Capt. Seguin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
